HCM City (VNA) – The southern largest economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City welcomedits five millionth foreign visitor at Tan Son Nhat International Airport onDecember 24.
Nguyen Thi Thu,Vice Chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee said the event marked the city’ssustainable tourism development.
With itsadvantages and potentials, HCM City has spared no effort, created favourableconditions for tourism development and build a friendly environment to drawmore international visitors, she added.
The numberof visitors to HCM City has been on the rise over the years, with an annualaverage growth of 8.2 percent. Revenue from tourism services have increased by16.4 percent on average, accounting for 9 percent of the city’s gross domesticproduct (GDP).
HCMCity expects to welcome more than 5.2 million foreign tourists in 2016, a riseof 10 percent against last year, and served 21.8 million domestic visitors, up10 percent year-on-year.

The HCM City tourism sector has made good preparations this year to attract international visitors but more new attractions are needed for them to succeed.
As many as 37 professional troupes are competing in the HCM City Open Unicorn-Lion-Dragon Dance Championship being held during weekends at Dam Sen Park in District 11.
