HCM City wishes for closer ties with Hungary: Chairman

As the two countries are marking the 65th founding anniversary oftheir diplomatic ties in early 2015, it is high time for them tointensify friendship and cooperation in mutually concerned areas such aseducation, investment-trade, and health care, Quan said.

The City and Hungary have also made strides in their collaboration, henoted, elaborating that two-way trade reached 36 million USD so farthis year, a year-on-year increase of 30 percent, while the Europeancountry now has three projects and three companies locating theiroffices here.

The Vietnamese southern hub andHungary’s Budapest capital are accelerating the implementation of theircooperation memorandum of understanding inked in March 2014, theChairman added.

However, he considered such outcomesmodest compared to huge cooperation potential between the two sides. Hesuggested his city and Hungary research measures to curb climatechange’s influence since HCM City is forecast to be under climatechange’s heaviest impact in the world.

For his part,President Ader Janos expressed his admiration for the city’s rapiddevelopment, adding that his visit to HCM City aims to learn about localwastewater treatment and water supply and business.

He proposed in-depth discussions with the city on climate change todesign concrete cooperation activities and further said both sidesshould also enhance educational partnership, especially in fields thatVietnam has demand for such as information technology and tourism whichare Hungary’s strengths.

The same day, theHungarian leader visited the Thu Duc Water Plant and the Thu Duc B.O.OWater Plant and discussed with their managers on the facilities’operations, technology and water prices.-VNA
