HCM City (VNA) – Site clearance has hindered several keyinfrastructure projects in Ho Chi Minh City.

Although construction on the intersection project near the Vietnam National University,Ho Chi Minh City in District 9 began in April, 2017, work on the tunnel segmenthas yet to be started.

According to Nguyen Van Tam, Vice Director of the municipal Department ofTransport, the authority is studying the project’s feasibility to connect withtransport in Binh Duong province.

Slow land clearance and compensation has also troubled An Suong Crossroadsproject in the city’s northwest gateway. A twin tunnel connecting Truong Chinh Streetup to Highway 22 had a total investment of more than 20 million USD. The firstunderground road will open to traffic in March while the second has not beenconstructed due to land issues in Hoc Mon district.

Also, the city’s much-awaited flood prevention project is going to miss itsApril deadline due to relocation issues in the area designated forconstruction.

Nguyen Tam Tien, General Director of Trung Nam Group, developer of theBuilt-Transfer project, said the project is 70 percent complete as of Februaryand once necessary land is available, it will take his workers a further sixmonths to finish.

The project covers 100 hectares in Districts 1, 4, 7 and 8, Binh Chanh Districtand Nha Be District. Site clearance was supposed to be completed by July lastyear, however, hundreds of families in District 7 have yet to be relocated.-VNA
