The Vietnam Fatherland Front Ho Chi Minh City chapter organised a ceremony in the city on April 25 to launch the voluntary blood donation day, in response to an appeal by Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong.

HoChi Minh City (VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front Ho Chi Minh Citychapter organised a ceremony in the city on April 25 to launch the voluntaryblood donation day, in response to an appeal by Party General Secretary andState President Nguyen Phu Trong.
LeThanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, expressedgratitude to the donor of the valuable fluid for their noble work. This helpstreat patients and ensure the requirement of the national defence, security andease the consequences of natural calamities, the official highlighted.
Hecalled on the people on all the walks of life to join the movement, for thetarget of 280,000 donations this year.
Rightafter the ceremony, hundreds of city dwellers donated their blood.
Authoritiesof the country’s biggest city hope to see about 10,000 donors from now to theend of next month.

Asimilar activity was held in the central province of Nghe An the same day whichexpected to collect up to 400 blood units within April 25./.
The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) is appealing to people with blood types O and A to make donations, as its blood reserves are now only sufficient to cover one week.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee held an online event in Hanoi on April 13 to call on the people to join the blood donation drive in response to a letter of Party Central Committee General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong.
As many as 430 doctors and medical workers in the northern city of Hai Phong took part in a blood donation programme on April 16 at the Viet-Tiep Friendship Hospital, the leading hospital in the city.
