The Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park (HHTP) and the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) association inked a deal on September 21 on joint activities to stimulate the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

Under the agreement, the two sides will co-organise trade shows in Hanoi and northern Vietnam and the SEMI will help promote HHTP to its member firms.

In his remarks at the signing ceremony, HHTP Director Pham Dai Duong highlighted the deal as an important step forward in the cooperation between the two companies.

It provides an opportunity for the HHTP to be heard among both local and foreign semiconductor producers, he said.

Richard Salsman, SEMI CFO and Vice President Operations, noted that following the success of the two SEMI Vietnam Semiconductor Strategy Summits co-hosted by the SEMI, HHTP Management Board and Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Industry Association (HSIA) in 2013 and 2014, the SEMI will hold the SEMI Vietnam Business Mission 2015 in Hanoi on September 22-23.

The event will bring together global microelectronics industry executives, top government officials, local enterprises and research institutes who are leading the development of Vietnam’s microelectronics industry.

Attendees will be offered an opportunity to learn firsthand about new policies and investment incentive plans of Vietnam to develop the industry.

SEMI is a global industry association serving the nano- and microelectronics manufacturing supply chains with about 1,900 member companies worldwide and offices in Bangalore, Berlin, Beijing, Brussels, Hsinchu, Moscow, San Jose, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Washington D.C.
