Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has iteratedVietnam’s consistent policy of respecting and guaranteeing the right to freedomof religion and belief for all citizens and ensuring equality among religions.
Welcoming Archbishop Marek Zalewski, the Holy See’s ApostolicNuncio to Singapore cum Non-residential Pontifical Representative to Vietnam,Son highlighted the progresses made in Vietnam’s relations with the Holy See.
He expressed his hope that Archbishop Zalewski will help theVietnam Catholic Church implement the Pope’s teachings.
Archbishop Zalewski thanked Vietnam’s authorities forcreating favourable conditions for his first visit to Vietnam.
He affirmed that he and the Holy See at large will do theirutmost to promote bilateral ties.
The Archbishop is on a visit to Vietnam from September 9-15.He is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Government Committee forReligious Affairs, attend Mass, and meet bishops at Hanoi’s St Joseph’sCathedral. –VNA
Under-Secretary for the Holy See’s Relations with States Antoine Camilleri met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and senior officials of Vietnam in Hanoi on January 18, affirming that Pope Francis and the Holy See always want Vietnam – the Holy See relations to further develop.
Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vu Chien Thang hosted a reception in Hanoi on September 7 for Cardinal Joao Braz de Aviz, Prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
At the conference, participants reported that the Government has so far issued 28 decrees on the delegation of responsibilities and powers between the central Government and two-tier local administrations. Several localities have already piloted the new governance model.
