Hoa Binh (VNA) – An illegalgold mine collapsed on November 4 in the northern province of Hoa Binh, buryingtwo workers.
In the early morning of November4, the two workers were operating an excavator and a truck to dig soil insidethe Cot Co cave, Thanh Nong commune, Lac Thuy district, when a dam at the cave’smouth broke. Thousands of cubic metres of soil and water poured into the cave,pushing the vehicles and the workers deep inside.
The district’s police and themilitary command are coordinating with the province’s rescue force and communalauthorities to remove water and the mass of soil from the cave and search forthe victims.
Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Nguyen Van Quang has arrived at the site to supervise thesearch and rescue efforts.
As of late November 4, the cavewas still filled with water and mud, with water continuing to flow in, causingdifficulties in searching for the victims.-VNA
