Indian, Indonesian navies conduct joint patrol at sea

NewDelhi (VNA) – The Indian Defence Ministry announced on October 11that the Indian Navy’s Kora-class missile corvette INS Kulish (P63) and navalmaritime patrol aircraft Dornier arrived in Indonesia for the openingceremony of the 32nd edition of India – Indonesia coordinated patrol (IND-INDOCORPAT).
The visit seeks to emphasise India’s peaceful presence andsolidarity with friendly countries towards ensuring good order in the maritimedomain, consolidate interoperability and strengthen existing bonds offriendship between the two countries, the ministry said in a statement.
Under the programme, the ships and aircraft from both countries will undertakepatrols on the respective sides of the 236 nautical-miles-long internationalmaritime boundary line.
The patrols will be conducted in three phases from Oct 14 to 24,followed by a closing ceremony at Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Island,scheduled for Oct 25-26.
Over the past time, Indian naval assets have been increasingly deployed toaddress maritime concerns of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). This event aims tohelp boost New Delhi’s efforts to set up a close friendship among coastalstates and enhance coordinating capacity.-VNA
