Indian naval ships visit central Da Nang city

Da Nang (VNA) – Three naval ships of Indiaanchored at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang on May 21, beginning a five-day courtesy visitto the central city.

The ships include multi-role frigate INS Sahyadri, oiltanked INS Shakti and corvette INS Kamorta with a total of 913 officers and sailorson board, led by Rear Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, Commander of the Indian Navy’sEastern Fleet.

During the five-day trip, the crews will pay courtesyvisits to leaders of the city’s People’s Committee and the High Command ofNaval Region 3.

They will take part in basketball matches with officersand soldiers of the Naval Region 3 and students of Da Nang University and stageat a brass music show for the public at Bien Dong Park in Da Nang.

They will also explore the city as well as My Sonsanctuary - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Hoi An ancient city in theneighbouring province of Quang Nam.

The navies of the two countries will hold a jointexercise on the last day of the visit.

The visit of Indian Navy ships aims to enhance cooperation,mutual understanding and trust between the two armies and naval forces inparticular. It is also expected to further foster the traditional friendshipbetween Vietnam and India.-VNA
