Jakarta (VNA) 💎- Indonesia has underscored the importance of resorting to collaborative actions to actualise water resilience at the global level by 2030.

In his remarks at the Third High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" being held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on June 12, Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono highlighted that comprehensive collaboration is of the essence to make water an instrument for achieving shared prosperity, Antara News reported. He cited a UN report released in 2022 which showed that only 73% of the global population had access to proper drinking water services, while basic sanitation is only enjoyed by 57% of the population.
Basuki noted that as of 2023, Indonesia has managed to provide drinking water access to 92% of its population and basic sanitation services to 86% of its citizens. However, there’s a lot of things to do to achieve Goal 6 by 2030. The minister stressed that access to drinking water and proper sanitation are fundamental human rights and that everyone on the planet should have equal access to these resources.
He encouraged all participants at the conference to work hand in hand to take transformative concrete actions in a bid to realise global water resilience while upholding the principles of sustainability, equality, and social justice. He went on to say that this forum can provide an opportunity for them to exchange experiences and stimulate intensified global collaboration./.
