Indonesian Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar (Photo: antaranews.com) Jakarta (VNA) – The Special TaskForce for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities of Indonesia (SKK Migas) hasidentified 10 working areas with potential oil and gas reserves.
According to data of SKK Migas, those 10areas are in North Sumatra, the Centre of Sumatra, South Sumatra, Tarakan, NEJava-Makassar strait, Kutai offshore, Buton offshore, Northern Papua, Bird BodyPapua, and Warim Papua.

The task force has found natural gasreserves of two trillion cubic feet in South Sumatra’s Sakakemang working areain Musi Banyuasin district. Energy company Repsol held the cooperationcontract.
The Indonesian official voiced his hopethat it would encourage the spirit of exploration in the country, as there aremany basins and plays that have yet to be explored.
The potential of the existing gas basin canbe optimised by the application of hard work and new technology, withadjustment in the oil and gas fiscal system policy of Indonesia, he added.
The Indonesian government will also easethe process of offering oil and gas working area to investors. Data onregistered basins will be opened for analysis.-VNA
