Jakarta (VNA) - The Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) announced on November 20 that it has dismantled a hashish production network in Jimbaran, Bali.
Bareskrim’s Chief Wahyu Widada said the police seized evidence worth approximately 1.5 trillion IRD (94 million USD), adding that this is the first disclosure of a hashish laboratory in Indonesia.
A modern laboratory to produce synthetic drugs was built in Bali, he noted.
Police seized dozens of kilograms of synthetic drugs, and raw materials sufficient to produce over 2 million pills and thousands of hashish sticks, Wahyu said, adding that the raw materials were primarily sourced from overseas.
The police charged the suspectꩵs with articles in Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, those in Law No.5 of 1997 concerning Psychotropics. These charges carry a maximum penalty of death, life imprisonment, or 20 years' imprisonment, along with a fine of up to 10 billion IRD./.
