In the first half of 2021, the export turnover of the Indonesian manufacturing sector increased by 33.45 percent year-on-year to 81.07 billion USD, contributing 78.80 percent of the country's total export value of 102.87 billion USD.

Jakarta (VNA) - In the first half of 2021, the export turnover of the Indonesian manufacturing sector increased by 33.45 percent year-on-year to 81.07 billion USD,contributing 78.80 percent of the country's total export value of 102.87billion USD.

Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said on July 19 that thegovernment is making every effort to ensure that the manufacturing sector will remain productive and competitive to meet market demand and contribute toreducing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy.

Export activity shows that manufacturing is still the largestcontributor to the country's total exports in the first six months of 2021. Thegrowth momentum of this sector is expected to help accelerate the recoveryprocess of the national economy.

Major manufacturing industries include iron and steel (1.99billion USD); vegetable and animal oils (1.89 billion USD); machinery and electronicequipment (1 billion USD), vehicles an spare parts (734.6 million USD); and rubber and rubber products (605 million USD).

In June alone, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the exportturnover of the manufacturing sector reached 14.08 billion USD, up 9.7percent compared to 12.83 billion USD in May.
