Indonesia’s Anti-Dumping Committee (KADI) has found indications of dumping of cold rolled stainless steel imports from Malaysia and China, according to the agency.

An investigation was launched into stainless steel products under nine tariffposts on Oct. 23 following a request by PT Jindal Stainless Indonesia, part ofIndia’s Jindal Group, the KADI said.
Indonesia imported nearly 360,000 tonnes of cold rolled stainless steel fromMalaysia and China from April 2016 to March 2019, representing half of thecountry’s imports for such products, it said.
Based on KADI’s analysis of preliminary evidence provided in the petitioner’sdocuments, the agency found dumping practices over the imports of cold rolledstainless steel from the two countries accused, the committee’s head BachrulChairi said in the statement.
Earlier, China’s commerce ministry said it would impose temporary antidumpingmeasures on stainless steel billet and hot-rolled stainless steel plate fromthe European Union, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Indonesia from March 23.
Last August, Indonesia imposed anti-dumping import duties at 10.47 percent on Chinesesteel products, and 12.5 and 12.33percent for Singapore and Ukraine steel products, respectively.
With 1.79 million tonnes of imports from China in2018, Indonesia is the fifth-largest destination for Chinese flat steelproducts, according to the IHS Markit Global Trade Atlas./.
