Flash floods and landslides have struck four districts in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province, including Padang Lawas, South Tapanuli, Deli Serdang, and Karo, leaving 19 people dead and more than 20 others injured, according to local authorities.

The North Sumatra Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency under the Indonesian National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) reported that the flash floods and landslides occurred on the evening of November 23 in Deli Serdang and Karo, burying many houses.
In Deli Serdang, six people were killed, and nine others were injured, while in Karo, seven people lost their lives, and nine were injured.
Earlier in the morning of the same day, flash floods and landslides also hit Padang Lawas and South Tapanuli, resulting in six deaths and seven injuries.
All injured individuals have been rushed to hospitals for emergency treatment.
