Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia is hosting the 8thInternational Shipbuilding, Offshore, Marine Equipment, Machinery and ServicesExhibition (Inmarine) from July 25-27.

The expo aims to boost the development of themaritime industry in Indonesia that wants to become a global marine axis asstated by President Joko Widodo.

An event entitled "Port and Terminal 2018" is heldwithin the framework of the expo to support the country’s sea toll programme.

Indonesiais planning to build 100 seaports in the long term. By the end of 2019, thecountry expects to build and expand 24 seaports nationwide with a totalinvestment of 5-6 billion USD.

Indonesiahas the largest number of islands in the world, at more than 17,500, of whicharound 8,000 islands are inhabited.-VNA
