Indonesia improves investment climate for economic revival

Indonesia will continue to encourage improvement of the investment environment despite the COVID-19 pandemic to revive its economy that is on the brink of recession, said deputy head of Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Nurul Ichwan said on October 6.

- Indonesia will continueto encourage improvement of the investment environment despite the COVID-19pandemic to revive its economy that is on the brink of recession, said deputy headof Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) NurulIchwan said on October 6.

According to Ichwan, the Indonesianeconomy has not shown any positive signals so far, however, its government isstill optimistic about the domestic economic growth.

In the context of a slowing economic growth, investment is expected tobe the main driver to boost Indonesia's growth, he said.

Managing director of the Institute for Development ofEconomics and Finance (INDEF)  TauhidAhmad said investment activities can actually be used as a measure to promoteeconomic growth.

Facing the current situation, many companies have decided to no longer dependon production sources in China, and tended to redirect their investment./.
