Indonesia, India boost naval cooperation

Indian warships INS Ranvir and INS Shakti are visiting Jakarta, Indonesia from June 1-4 to improve the capacity of the two countries’ naval forces in coordination activities.
Indian warships INS Ranvir and INS Shakti are visiting Jakarta,Indonesia from June 1-4 to improve the capacity of the two countries’naval forces in coordination activities.

During theirstay, the two ships have engaged in a number of programmes, includingprofessional interactions between the two navies in maritime and searchand rescue sectors.

The two naval forces have jointly conducted patrols and plan to hold annual bilateral training sessions.

India ’s Southern Naval Commander Vice Admiral Satish Sonihighlighted the enormous cooperation potential between the two navies,while Indian Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste Gurjit Singhsaid the two naval forces committed to defend marine routes and inspectviolations to ensure free trade for all countries in the region.

The warships also visited Singapore and are expected to continue onto Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia.-VNA
