National police spokesperson Setyo Wasisto on June 20 saidan operation has been undertaken to counter potential terrorist threats. He added that the operation was to prepare for possiblestrikes on key locations and police stations. National Police chief General Tito Karnavian ordered thespecial counter-terror squad Densus 88 to step up monitoring and supervision ofthe activities of terrorist groups ahead of Eid al-Fitr festival, which fallson June 26-27. He also stressed the need to take a preventive act and quickrespond if there is any indication of the movement linked to terrorist cells.
