Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesiangovernment recently launched the pre-employment card for young job seekers,part of a promise of President Joko Widodo during his presidential campaign,with a budget worth 10 trillion rupiah (645.16 million USD) in 2020.
Indonesian Coordinating Minister forEconomic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the incentives are designed forjob seekers aged between 18 and 24.
At present, there are around seven million unemployedpeople in Indonesia, of who 3.7 million are young people. Ninety percent of theunemployed have not received any vocational training.
The pre-employment card offers vocationaltraining for those have yet to earn a job, Hartarto said.
The Indonesian government has worked withdigital company and payment platforms such as Bukalapak, Tokopedia, OVO, HarukaEDU, and PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk, among others, to run the programme.
Executive Director of the programme DenniPuspa Purbasari explained that the government will provide training costs of upto 7 million rupiah per person through the programme.
Earlier, Indonesian Minister of Finance SriMulyani Indrawati said the programme sets a target to attract two million participants./.
