Indonesia makes up 40% of digital transaction value in Southeast Asia

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia accounts for around 40%,or 77 billion USD, of the total digital economic transaction value in SoutheastAsia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has cited the e-Conomy SouthEast Asia Report of 2022 as saying.

The value of these transactions in Indonesia in 2022 grew22% compared to the previous year, OJK chief executive Ogi Prastomiyono said onMarch 16.

This achievement has made the country a significant digitaleconomy player in the ASEAN region, he added.

According to Prastomiyono, one of the factors supporting thegrowth of the Indonesian digital economy has been the number of financialtechnology companies (fintech) capable of creating efficiencies and moreaccessible financial services.

As of January, there were 102 fintech companies connectingborrowers and lenders or offering peer-to-peer lending (P2P)./.
