Jakarta (VNA) –Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand (IMT) agreed to intensify cooperation intourism, transport, human resources and infrastructure projects at aministerial meeting of the IMT Growth Triangle in Indonesia on September 29.

Indonesian Coordinating Ministerfor Economy Darmin Nasution said that the cooperation agreements are to supportintegration of growth of the three neighboring countries and increase investmentin the IMT-GT area.

By cooperating in tourismdevelopment, the countries will adopt tourism strategic framework as areference to promote cross border tourism and make IMT-GT as a sustainable andcompetitive tourist destination, he said.

In the transport sector, thethree countries will cooperate in improving trade border gate system and cross-borderinfrastructure to facilitate export-import activities.

Meanwhile, under the cooperationprogramme in human resources development, inter-university cooperation has beenformed in the IMT-GT area through the UNINET Charter, including innovativeresearch and technology.

The countries also agreed toimplement connectivity projects including airports, seaports, roads, bridgesand railway, he added.

At the meeting, delegates agreedthat the secretariat of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle will belocated in Pangkalpinang, the capital of Bangka Belitung province of Indonesia.-VNA
