Jakarta (VNA)𒉰 – Waste management industrialisation is among the necessary measures to support waste management efforts in Indonesia, said Novrizal Tahar, waste management director at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Novrizal said that waste management is an urgent requirement for environmental protection and sustainable development. The government backs measures for waste management industrialisation with focus on developing technology, management, and human resources professionally and modernly. He said waste management must be carried out seriously with proper coordination between central and local authorities, and ministries, agencies and sectors.
Novrizal emphasised that professionals need to collaborate with regional governments so that waste management can be carried out professionally and modernly.
Regarding waste management industrialisation, which applies the circular economy principle, he underscored the need to utilise technology to put waste to use, such as for generating energy and materials for industries. He said that Indonesia is piloting managing waste with refuse-derived fuel (RDF) technology, which turns inorganic waste into alternative fuel in various industries. In the coming time, the RDF technology will be applied in cement production and coal-fired power generation./.
