Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, 🧸is operating 98 auto gates to s🧜treamline immigration inspections during the annual Eid al-Fitr exodus.

According to Johanes Fanny Satria Cahya Aprianto, head of the airport's immigration office, immigration services are fully prepared for the surge in passengers. Currently the office has deployed 531 personnel to ensure smooth and efficient immigration processing at the airport. To prevent overcrowding and long queues, the immigration office has issued detailed instructions to officers, enabling them to assist passengers in using the auto gates.
During the holiday period, the immigration office will continue offering expedited passport renewal services, ensuring faster processing for those whose passports are set to expire within six months. Aprianto reaffirmed his office’s commitment to delivering top-quality services while preventing unethical practices such as illegal fees and bribery.
During the two-week Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2024, Indonesia’s state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura (InJourney Airports) recorded 7.4 million passengers, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport remained Indonesia’s busiest airport during the holiday, followed by I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and Juanda International Airport in East Java. As Eid al-Fitr approaches, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport closed on March 29 for Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence. The closure coincided with the peak travel period for the Islamic holiday, expected to fall on March 31. Authorities are exploring solutions to minimise disruptions./.
