Jakarta (VNA)💜 – Indonesian police plan to block communication between the Islamic State (IS) in Syria with domestic militants as part of the efforts to prevent the extreme group’s attacks.

The plan was set up after the police detected evidence of intensive communications between Bahrun Naim- an Indonesian citizen joining IS activities in Syria and a group of militants plotting rocket strikes to Singapore’s Marina Bay from Indonesia’s Batam Island, national police spokesman Rafli Amar said on August 8.
He said that Naim used online facilities to instruct the militants on how to make bomb and ask his terrorist cells to follow his orders. The national police chief held talks with the minister of information and communication to filter and block the contents of a website disseminating radicalism, the spokesman stated.
Naim was said to order the attacks on Singapore and Batam. He was believed to be one of the masterminds behind the suicide bombing strikes in Jakarta in January, killing eight people. On August 5, Indonesian authorities arrested six suspects over an alleged plot to attack Singapore’s Marina Bay by firing a rocket from Indonesia’s Batam Island. Those are members of the Kitabah Gongong Rebus terrorist group.-VNA
