Jakarta (VNA)🐻 – IndonesianPresident Joko Widodo called for efforts of lawmakers to accelerate discussionfor revision of the anti-terrorism bill, aiming to create an official legal frameworkfor the country’s counter-terrorism activities.

Indonesian Attorney General MuhammadPrasetyo said that the recent attacks in Indonesia and danger of terrorism haveenhanced the need to revise the anti-terrorism law of Indonesia. The draft should define securityofficers’ role and their rights to promptly stop terrorism activities, headded. In a short speech during his visit tothe scene of the twin bombings in Kampung Melayu, east of Jakarta on May 25,President Joko Widodo also stressed his hope that the completion of the lawwill create favourable conditions for law enforcement agencies to prevent risksof terrorism. Since the Bali attack in 2002 whichclaimed more than 200 lives, Indonesia has taken many security measures.-VNA
