Hanoi (VNA) – The Indonesian police on December 27 said that they have enhanced securityat airports, seaports and wharves ahead of the New Year 2017 after a series ofraids across the country and arrested many suspects.

In raids on severaldens of terrorist suspects at the two major islands Java and Sumatra in pastfew weeks, the anti-terrorist police seized materials and evidence showing thatgunmen may carry out attacks on Christmas and New Year holidays


The nationalpolice’s spokesperson Martinus Sitompul said police have been deployed to manyimportant places where crowds often gather and tourism sites while closelymonitoring situation on the eve of the New Year.
