Indonesia targets extreme poverty to be completed by 2024

Jakarta (VNA)🙈 – Indonesia, the most populous country in SoutheastAsia, is trying to get the extreme poverty of 0% by 2024.

Minister ofSocial Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini said at a press conference on June 13 that President Joko Widodo hasasked his ministry to solve extreme poverty by 2024.

The minister mentioned a number of programmes to achieve thetarget, such as food for the elderly, food for the disabled, assistance fororphans (YAPI), Integrated Prosperous Houses (RST), and Indonesian EconomicHeroes (PENA).

Accordingly, in 2023, there will be at least 100,000 food recipients,33,775 food recipients with disabilities, 378,745 YAPI recipients, 595 RSTrecipient families, and 7,500 PENA recipients.

However, Minister Tri admitted that the ministry is facing difficulties in collecting data on potential beneficiaries due to timeand budget from the government.

The ministry needs along time related to the implementation of the assessment of potentialbeneficiaries so that all assistance can reach the beneficiaries, she added  

ꦑ Witharound 280 million people, Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country.Currently, the country’s poverty rate stands at 1.74% of the total populationor 5.5 million./.
