Indonesia targets stunting reduction to 14% by 2024

Jakarta (VNA)♌ – Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and CultureMuhadjir Effendy has urged local governments to continue optimising therole of Team for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction (TPPS) to reducestunting rate to 14% targeted by 2024.

Effendy said each region has a TPPS that hasbeen coordinated by the regional head. It must be optimised to accelerate stuntingreduction target achievement. Hence, to this end, he emphasised the need forsynergy and collaboration from all stakeholders, starting from the relevantministries and institutions to local administrations.

Moreover, he is upbeat that the target could beachieved sooner, given Indonesia's success in dealing with the COVID-19pandemic.

𝕴 According to him, theVillage Fund budget and Special Allocation Fund (DAK) for each region couldalso be used specifically for handling stunting.

He highlighted the need for the NationalPopulation and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) and the Ministry of Finance tocontinue to ensure the use of a specific budget to accelerate the reduction ofstunting. Basedon the results of the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), thestunting prevalence rate in Indonesia was still recorded at 21.6 percent, down2.8% year-on-year./.
