Indonesian minister hails Vietnam’s efforts to maintain positive growth

Jakarta (VNA) – Vietnam and China are the only two nations in the worldthat have been maintaining positive economic growth so far this year despiteadverse impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesian Finance Minister SriMulyani Indrawati has said.

Speakingat an online press conference held by the Indonesian Government on November 24,Indrawati cited the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s forecast as saying that Vietnamis likely to achieve an economic growth rate of 1.6 percent in 2020 thanks tothe government’s efforts to successfully contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile,China is projected to post an economic growth rate of 1.9 percent this year, theminister said.

Thoughsuffering heavy pressure from the pandemic since the second quarter of 2020,Vietnam’s economy has been retaining positive growth while economies ofAmerican and European countries are predicted to see minus growth this year, sheadded.

RegardingIndonesia, Indrawati said the country’s economy is forecast to post minus 1.5percent growth in 2020 due to huge impacts from the pandemic./.
