Khanh Hoa (VNA) 🎶– Localities across Vietnam have implemented a range of social support initiatives to assist disadvantaged groups, including poor and near-poor households, individuals with meritorious services, children, ethnic minority people, and disadvantaged workers to enjoy the Lunar New Year Festival.

Nguyen Thanh Ha, Chief of Office and Spokesperson of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, announced that the province allocated a total budget of 141 billion VND (approximately 5.6 million USD) for these initiatives. Specifically, the provincial Labour Federation mobilised over 58 billion VND to organise the “Tet Reunion” programme for union members and workers while the provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels raised 17.8 billion VND to distribute 35,000 gift packages. Over 21 billion VND was drawn from the provincial budget to purchase nearly 1,600 tonnes of rice, which will be distributed to over 105,000 people facing food shortages during the Tet holiday.

In the southern province of Binh Duong, 39 buses were arranged to transport over 1,600 union members and workers facing hardships back to their hometowns.

ܫ These buses represent compassion, solidarity, and social responsibility, said Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, adding that this initiative not only enables workers to reunite with their families but also demonstrates the commitment of local authorities and businesses to the wellbeing of the labour force.

Binh Duong has also allocated over 44 billion VND to support nearly 45,000 workers in need. Additional programmes, such as “Tet Reunion,” “Trade Union Tet Market,” and “Loving Tet,” have been launched to ensure all workers can celebrate a warm and festive New Year.
In the central city of Da Nang, nearly 100 buses will transport over 3,600 union members and workers back to their hometowns. Le Van Dai, Vice Chairman of the city’s Labour Federation, highlighted that this is the largest deployment of buses in the history of the “Trade Union Tet Journey” programme. Along with free transport, passengers will receive meal allowances of 100,000 VND each. In northern Bac Giang province, the Labour Federation has maintained its “Trade Union Bus” initiative since 2013 to reduce travel costs and ease difficulties for workers traveling from distant provinces. For 2025, the federation allocated 1.6 billion VND from the union fund to distribute 2,000 bus tickets, each including 500,000 VND in cash and Tet gifts worth 300,000 VND. These activities reflect a concerted effort to preserve the tradition of celebrating Tet while ensuring support for those in need./.
