International Festival of Volunteers returns to HCM City
A host of activities took place during the 10th International Festival of Volunteers held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 5, providing an opportunity for local volunteer associations, clubs and groups to meet and together engage in community and volunteer services.

HCM City (VNA) – A host of activities took placeduring the 10th International Festival of Volunteers held in Ho Chi Minh Cityon December 5, providing an opportunity for local volunteer associations, clubsand groups to meet and together engage in community and volunteer services.
Aiming to mark the International Volunteer Day (December 5),the festival’s theme focused on combating COVID-19 this year.
During the event, young volunteers helped clean anddisinfect condo buildings and residential areas, raised public awareness of the“5K” message and planted new trees.

It also included the launch of the city’s second quickresponse team sent to support the COVID-19 fight in Soc Trang, a photo exhibitionon volunteer work, a blood donation event, a space for introducing volunteerideas and projects and a playground called “I am a Volunteer” featuring gamebooths and music performances by attendees./.
More than 10,000 volunteers nationwide have registered through website //chongdich.doanthanhnien.vn to participate in the COVID-19 prevention and control work in the southern region, according to the central committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam Fatherland Front held a ceremony on September 24 to honour 147 religious volunteers who have completed their tasks of supporting doctors in the front line of the fight against COVID-19 pandemic at COVID-19 treatment hospitals in the city.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the city Party Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission and municipal Religious Affairs Committee on October 8 held a send-off ceremony for 50 volunteers who are Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers to join frontline forces in the fight against COVID-19 at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Hospital.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the city's Committee for Religious Affairs on October 13 honoured 82 religious volunteers who have worded side by side with medical workers at local COVID-19 treatment hospitals.
According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), this year’s campaign provided long-term aid for 3,785 individuals and organisations. Support included houses, clean water systems, school meal facilities, books, and livelihood assistance, with a total value of more than 118 billion VND.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.

Today, the press for foreign service has evolved into a distinct, irreplaceable force, bridging Vietnam with the world and portraying a nation that is stable, peace-loving, and fully integrated into the international community.
At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
