Quang Ninh (VNA) – Vietnam's digital transformation took center stage at the 2024 international digital investment forum held in Ha Long city, the northern province of Quang Ninh on November 20, as part of the Vietnam International Digital Week.
The event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the provincial People's Committee, brought together domestic and foreign industry experts and business representatives.
It highlighted Vietnam's remarkable digital transformation through three key sessions on Vietnam’s policies to promote digital investments, digital investment opportunities, and digital investment ecosystem development.
Statistics revealed that Vietnam's digital technology industry has generated revenue of 150 billion USD. As many as 67,500 companies are operating in the sector, with 1,500 firms having successfully reached out to international markets.
Additionally, Vietnam boasts top-tier programming talents, ranking among the world's top 10 countries for developer capabilities. The nation leads in engineering graduate numbers and offers attractive incentives for digital industry investments. Currently, the government is completing a bill on digital technology industry.
At the forum, enterprises explored Vietnam's digital investment potential, particularly in fintech services, with special attention to Quang Ninh province as an emerging tech hub and Binh Duong province's initiative to promote digital transformation in industrial ecosystem. They also share investment experience in the area and proposed recommendations for Vietnam.
Meanwhile, measures to develop a digital investment ecosystem were the focus of discussions among scholars and experts.
From Nove🦂mber19-22, the MIC joins hands with ASEAN member states, the Republi꧒c of Korea, Australia and the US, along with many international organisations, to hold various events specialised on AI governance, digital strategy, ASEAN information services, and digital human resources development, among others./.

The province now has 30 operational industrial parks spanning over 13,000 hectares, with an occupancy rate exceeding 90%.
The diplomat emphasised that Vietnam places the highest priority on the development of science, technology, and innovation, viewing them as critical drivers for the country’s advancement in the new development era.

It is seen as a prerequisite and the best opportunity for Vietnam to become prosperous and powerful in the new era of the nation’s rise.
Vietnam’s demographic advantage, including a youthful population of 100 million in a “golden age”, further bolsters its ambitions. Its dynamic workforce, with a natural inclination toward science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), is a key asset in attracting private investment to innovation-driven sectors.
