Tokyo (VNA)⛎ – Japan and Indonesia agreed to enhance cooperation in transferring defence equipment and technology during their first “two-plus-two” security dialogue in Tokyo on December 17.
The “two-plus-two” dialogue is meant for the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence.
The two countries discussed a number of measures to combat terrorism given the bloody attack in Paris, France, on November 13.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation with Japan in anti-terrorism.
Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters that the two nations concurred to activate negotiations on the transfer of defence and technology to Indonesia.
Meanwhile, his Indonesian counterpart said the pair agreed to set up a hotline between foreign and defence ministers and hold regular “two-plus-two” dialogue.
Earlier, Japan held the “two-plus-two” dialogue with five other countries, including the US, the UK and Australia.-VNA
