Hanoi (VNA) – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has affirmedthat Indonesia is still an important strategic partner for coordinating in dealingwith regional and international issues.

He made the remark on January 20 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Japan-Indonesia diplomatic relations.

In a statement released by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abestated that Indonesia is one of the important partners of Japan in sharingglobal values as well as in dealing with regional and international matters asthe two countries are surrounded by massive oceans.

Meanwhile, Indonesian President Joko Widodo underscored that Indonesiaand Japan are actively engaging in a series of cooperation forms at regionaland international forums, and will continue the collaboration to improve peaceand stability in the region.

Currently, Indonesia and Japan have a wide range of bilateralcooperation programmes under the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership,including expert exchange, and health care human resources development. Eachyear, Japan helps Indonesia train 500 nurses to work in rest-homes.-VNA
