Japanese Emperor meets with JICA volunteers in Vietnam
Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko met volunteers of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on late February 28 shortly after they arrived in Hanoi for a State visit to Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) – Japanese Emperor Akihito and EmpressMichiko met volunteers of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) onlate February 28 shortly after they arrived in Hanoi for a State visit toVietnam.
The Emperor and Empress asked JICA volunteersabout their work and life in Vietnam as well as their aspirations.
Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko expressedtheir hope that the volunteers will fulfill the duties in whatever positionsthey hold.
The JICA volunteers, who work in a wide range ofactivities such as education, health care, tourism, investment promotion, andagriculture, said they love their jobs in Vietnam and want to share knowledgeand experience to contribute to the local development.
They also highly valued the eagerness to learnand the hospitality of Vietnamese people.
The first-ever State visit to Vietnam untilMarch 5 by the Japanese Emperor and Empress is a historic event in the twocountries’ cooperation and friendship. It demonstrates Japan’s sentiment towardsand attention to Vietnam, helping to enhance their extensive strategicpartnership and mutual understanding which is also a wish of the twopeoples.-VNA
An exhibition entitled “Trade Relation between Japan and Vietnam in History” kicked off at the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum in the central province of Thua Thien - Hue on February 27.
An event to connect businesses from Vietnam and Japan’s Hokkaido prefecture was held in HCM City on February 27 to seek opportunities for cooperation and exports of local products to Vietnam.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
