Japanese, Korean soloists to perform in HCM City

HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Japaneseclarinetist Shuhei Isobe and Korean pianist Ju Sun Young will perform alongwith Vietnamese musicians in a chamber music concert at the Ho Chi Minh CityOpera House on October 9 night .

The concert will feature works by Chopin andSchumann that have never been performed in the city.

Ju Sun Young, who has performed at prestigiousvenues in the US, including Carnegie Hall in New York, will be featured in theperformance of Chopin’s famous Nocturne in E flat Major, op 9, No 2.

She will perform with Meritorious Artist andcellist Nguyen Tan Anh, and violinists Tang Thanh Nam and Le Minh Hien.

Two Fantasy Pieces for Cello & Piano by Schumann, and the Suite for Two Violins& Piano in G Minor, op. 71 by Moszkowski, will also be performed.

The second part of the concert will featurepianist Ju, clarinetist Isobe, cellist Anh, and violinists Pham Vu Thien Bao,Nam and Hien performing Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes for Clarinet, StringQuartet & Piano, op 34.

Thework was written in 1919 during Prokofiev’s trip to the US. It premiered in NewYork in 1920 featuring the composer as guest pianist.

Isobe will continue the night with a performanceof Baermann’s Adagio for Clarinet & Strings.

The clarinetist began playing the instrument atthe age of 13. He graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts, and thenstudied in Berlin, Germany.

Isobe, who has been a member of the TokyoSymphony Orchestra and NHK Symphony Orchestra, has also released dozens of CDs.

The concert will feature the HCM City BalletSymphony Orchestra and Opera’s (HBSO) string orchestra.

Conductor Tran Nhat Minh, a graduate of theMoscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, will lead the concert.

The event will begin at 8 pm on October 9. Thetheatre is at 7 Lam Son Square in District 1. Tickets are available at thevenue and at www.ticketbox.vn.-VNS/VNA
