Tokyo (VNA) – Authorities of Japan's Nagasaki prefecture have been making multiple efforts to help University of Nagasaki toattract more Vietnamese students.
In April, Nagasaki prefecture's authorities coordinated with Goto city andthe University of Nagasaki to establish Goto Japanese Language Schoolexclusively for Vietnamese students which offers pre-sessional courses to helpthem prepare for the study at the university.
Nagasaki prefecture has been improving its learningenvironment for Vietnamese students by founding a Japanese language schooldesignated for those from Vietnam, Deputy Governor Ken Hirata said, adding thatmany Vietnamese alumni have been recruited by local enterprises.
Additionally, the prefecture’s international exchangeassociation has set up an one-stop unit providing counseling services in 18foreign languages, including Vietnamese, and been giving away handbooks guidingforeign students on local life, healthcare and how to response to natural disasters.It also grants a scholarship worth 15,000 JPY (about 120 USD) per month perperson to self-funding international students.
A local company, Chukoh Chemical Industries Ltd., has alsoestablished a fund providing loans for Vietnamese students.
To recruit more Vietnamese students, the University ofNagasaki has teamed up with Vietnam’s University of Da Nang to host entranceexams at the central coast city and allow Vietnamese students to apply online.
Vietnamese people are recognized as distinguished by manyfirms and universities in Nagasaki, Hirata said, noting that he expects to seemore Vietnamese people, particularly students, in Nagasaki in the comingtime./.
Ho Chi Minh City wants to enhance the student exchange programme with the Japanese prefecture of Nagasaki, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem.
Vietnamese and Japanese firms shared information about and cooperation experience in new technologies during Japan ICT Day 2019 that opened in the central city of Da Nang on October 22.
