Kon Tum donates rice to ethnic students

Around 15,000 ethnic students in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum will receive 900 tonnes of rice in the first phase of a support programme for the second academic semester this year.

Kon Tum (VNA) - Around 15,000 ethnicstudents in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum will receive 900 tonnesof rice in the first phase of a support programme for the second academicsemester this year.

The provincial People’s Committee asked theDepartment of Education and Training to organise the rice donation for ethnicstudents.

The department is working with the province’sDepartment of Finance and local authorities to ensure that the amount issufficient and that it is of good quality.

The donations are expected to be completed before April 25.

The province asked the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Education andTraining to grant another 250 tonnes of rice this year during the second phasein the second semester this year. 

Kon Tum has six ethnic minorities – the Gia Rai, Ba Na, Xo Dang, Gie-Trieng, Brauand Ro Mam. Around 59,000 people, or 55 percent of the population, are ethnicminorities.-VNA
