Lai Chau becomes 53th destination of Hoang Sa, Truong Sa exhibition
An exhibition featuring maps and documents affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes opened in the northern province of Lai Chau on January 13.
Lai Chau(VNA) – An exhibition featuring maps and documents affirming Vietnam’s sovereigntyover Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes opened in thenorthern mountainous province of Lai Chau on January 13.
Lai Chau is the 53rd locality in the country to host the exhibition,themed “Vietnam’s Hoang Sa and Truong Sa – Historical and Legal Evidence”, saidVice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tong Thanh Hai, who is also headof the exhibition organising committee.
On display aredocuments, objects, publications and nearly 100 maps which were collected bylocal and international researchers and scholars.
The exhibited materials are in Han(classical Chinese), Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script), Vietnamese and Frenchlanguages issued by Vietnamese feudal states, the French government inIndochina (on behalf of the then Vietnamese state), and other foreignstates. Notably, there are 65 maps testifyingVietnam’s sovereignty over the two archipelagos announced by Vietnam andWestern countries from the 17th century to present.
All these exhibits affirmed the process Vietnam continuously exercised and defendedits sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa islands.
In addition, four atlases and 30 mapspublished by Chinese states over periods also showed that China did not managethe two archipelagoes.
The event helps raise publicawareness of firmly safeguarding the country’s sacred sea and islandsovereignty as well as rejecting China’s groundless sovereignty claims overHoang Sa and Truong Sa, said Hai.
After the exhibition concluded on January 17, all the maps and documents willbe presented to the province for further display.-VNA
A map exhibition entitled “Hoang Sa, Truong Sa belong to Vietnam – historical and legal evidence” opened in the central province of Phu Yen on December 12.
As many as 100 photos will be showcased at an exhibition themed “There is a Truong Sa inside Hanoi” at the Trang Tien Exhibition Centre in Hanoi from December 31, 2016 to January 3, 2017.
An exhibition on Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos opened in Can Duoc district, the Mekong Delta province of Long An on December 27.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
