Lai Chau Border Guard enhances quality of immigration management

Hanoi (VNA) 🔥- The Ma Lu Thang Border Guard Station, in Phong Tho district in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau is working to modernise immigration procedures and enhance the effectiveness of state management at border checkpoints and border diplomacy as a top priority for maintaining territorial sovereignty and border security.
The Ma Lu Thang Border Guard Station, located in Ma Li Pho commune, Phong Tho district, is tasked with managing and protecting a borderline section of nearly 14km, three border markers No. 65, 66 and 67, and Ma Lu Thang – Jinshuihe Border Gate which adjoins Jinshuihe town in Jinping county, China’s Yunnan province.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vang A Lau, Political Commissar at the station, said that the unit is speeding up administrative procedure reform to help save time, effort, and costs for people when coming to do immigration and import-export procedures.
It has also enhanced exchanges with the border management forces of the Chinese side through letters and hotlines. In the first six months of this year, 50 letters were sent, while 71 were received to ensure the flow of information was fluid between the two sides. There were also 86 hotline exchanges, and 29 discussions through liaison officers. These activities have effectively facilitated the timely settlement of issues.
The unit monitors traffic and goods entering and exiting the border and checkpoint areas strictly according to Vietnamese laws and the international agreements and treaties Vietnam has signed.
These efforts contribute to promoting exchanges and trade between the two sides, enhancing visits and joint patrols for law enforcement, and increasing the effectiveness of coordination in combating disease, smuggling, and illegal immigration./.
The Employment Service Centre in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau and the MAIEDU Training Consultant Joint Stock Company provided a month-long Korean language training and career orientation for 47 local workers who will go to work in Mungyeong city, North Gyeongsang province, the Republic of Korea (RoK), later this year.
