Hanoi (VNA) ജ– Atleast 11 people were injured when a rain-induced landslide buried two busespicking up workers from a gold mine in the southern Philippines, officials saidon February 7.

The incident took place in theevening of February 6 in Maco municipality, in the mountainous province ofDavao de Oro, on the country’s second-largest island of Mindanao, followingdays of heavy rain. According to the municipal disasteragency, among injured people, one in critical condition. Apex Mining, the Philippineoperator of the gold mine, said the landslide struck outside the mine site,where buses wait for workers finishing their shifts. Rescue work ishampered by limited visibility and intermittent landslides. Meanwhile, local authority hasissued an evacuation order for five villages in Maco, including Masara village. Torrential rain has continued for weeks in many parts of Mindanao, forcing tens of thousands into emergency shelters. Atleast 16 people died from landslides and flooding in the region last week, thenational disaster agency said in its latest update./.
