Lao Cai serves more than 1.4 million tourists in Q1

Lao Cai (VNA) - The northernmountainous province of Lao Cai welcomed more than 1.4 million tourists in thefirst quarter of 2019, up 16.6 percent year-on-year, according to theprovincial People’s Committee.

The locality’s tourism sector raked in nearly 2.5 trillion VND (more than 107.7million USD) in the period, 65.8 percent more than in the same period lastyear.

In March alone, Lao Cai served nearly 600,000 holiday-makers, up 36.8 percentcompared to the previous month. Sa Pa, Bac Ha and Lao Cai city were the mostattractive destinations.

The number of visitors to Lao Cai is forecast to strongly increase in the comingmonths due to long holidays, festivals and cultural and tourism activities inthe locality.

The local tourism sector is working to mobilise more resources, improve thequality of tourism services and enhance the tourism business environment, aimingto make it more attractive to holiday-makers and investors.-VNA
