Vientiane (VNA) 𓆏– Lao Party Secretary General and President Bounnhang Volachith hailed the practical and effective cooperation between the Lao and Vietnamese legislatures during a reception for Vietnamese National Assembly Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty in Vientiane, Laos on September 7.

The reception took place as Ty was in Vientiane to attend the meeting of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and ASEAN leaders on the occasion of the 28 th and 29 th ASEAN Summits.
The Lao leader expressed his wish that the Vietnamese NA would share more experiences with Laos regarding the organisation of People’s Councils since Laos held the first election of deputies to the People’s Councils at provincial and municipal levels recently. He took the occasion to pledge to continue nurturing the traditional relationship and special solidarity with Vietnam, and urged closer coordination between the two countries in educating their young generations about the history of bilateral ties.
The host expressed thanks to Vietnam for helping Laos with the organisation of ASEAN meetings this year. NA Vice Chairman Ty, for his part, believed that Laos’ contribution in its capacity as ASEAN Chair this year will strengthen the development of ASEAN Community in the coming years. He affirmed that Vietnam always gives top priority to reinforcing the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos.-VNA
