The Lao leader and the hosts expressed their delight at the success of theVietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017, describing itas a good chance to review the time-honoured relationship between the twocountries and educate their people from all walks of life, especially youths,about the great significance and importance of the Vietnam-Laos specialsolidarity.
Vorachith noted with pleasurethat the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam has developed fruitfully,bringing practical benefits to the people of both nations.

He invited the former Party leaders of Vietnam to visit Laos at a convenient time.Phieu and Manh accepted the invitations with pleasures.
The Lao leader’s three-day visit is being made at the invitation of GeneralSecretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and President ofVietnam Tran Dai Quang, aiming to affirm Laos’ policy of treasuring the greatfriendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the twocountries.
This is the second official friendly visit of the Lao leader during his tenure(2016-2021).
The visit is also expected to strengthen solidarity and political trust betweenthe two Parties and countries. This is also a chance for Vietnam to affirmsupport to Laos during its cause of national defence and development.-VNA
General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith arrived in Hanoi on December 19 morning, starting an official friendly visit to Vietnam.
Since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation on July 18, 1977, the traditional relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations have been strengthened, especially in the economy.
The special relations between Vietnamese and Lao Parties and States hold the strategic meaning to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the respective countries as well as in the region and around the world.
The ministries of industry and trade of Vietnam and Laos co-organised a forum in Vientiane on December 19 to seek ways to improve bilateral trade, which is estimated at 900 million USD in 2017.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
The ministry has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Iran, as well as those in neighbouring countries, to closely monitor the situation and request local authorities to ensure absolute safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in high-risk areas.
