Lao leader vows to foster special relationship with Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) - GeneralSecretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee andPresident of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith has affirmed to continuemarking efforts to maintain and foster the great friendship, special solidarityand comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

The Lao leader made the affirmation during his separate meetings with formerGeneral Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong DucManh and former State President Tran Duc Luong in Hanoi on June 28 as part ofhis ongoing official visit to Vietnam.

He also vowed to work to raise next generations’ awareness of preserving and developing this relationship.

At themeetings, the former Vietnamese leaders stressed that the visit to Vietnam by ThonglounSisoulith showed the loyal, warm and close relationship between the two peoples,contributing to affirming both countries’ consistent foreign policy of attachingspecial importance to preserving and constantly developing the greatfriendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnamand Laos.

They expressed their belief that, withthe reform policy under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party,led by Thongloun Sisoulith, Laos will continue to reap even greaterachievements, contributing to strengthening the friendship and enhancing theposition of the two countries in the international arena.

On the occasion, Thongloun Sisoulithinvited Manh and Luong to visit Laos at an appropriate time. The two formerVietnamese leaders sincerely thanked and accepted the invitation withpleasure./.
