Vientiane (VNA)❀ – The second session of Laos’ 8th National Assembly wrapped up in Vientiane on November 18 after 26 days of sitting.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chairwoman of the Lao NA Pany Yathotou said the session has completed its working agenda. The legislature adopted adjustments to the socio-economic development scheme for 2017-2020, the budget plan and monetary policies, the implementation of the socio-economic development plan for 2015-2016, and the socio-economic development plan for 2017.
Lawmakers also passed reports on the inspection outcomes and State budget work in 2013-2014, the State inspectors’ activities in 2015-2016 and plan for 2017, key tasks of the Supreme People’s Procuracy and the Supreme People’s Court, the NA’s activities in the last half of this year and tasks for 2017.
During the session, the NA adopted 14 laws, including two new ones and 12 revised laws, including the Law on investment promotion. The NA also questioned nine ministries and ministry-level agencies on issues of public concerns in the fields of socio-economy, finance-monetary, and the environment.-VNA
