Lao official hails Vietnamese community’s contributions

Vientiane (VNA) – Member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party’s Politburo andPresident of the Lao Front for National Construction Saysomphone Phomvihane had ameeting on July 7 with the Vietnamese community in Laos onthe occasion of the occasionof the 40 years of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation and 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

SaysomphonePhomvihanehighlyvalued the role of the community in the national defence and development ofLaos, while stressing the need to preserve, protect and develop the special solidarityand comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos at present andin the future.

He stated that the Party,State and people of Laos never forget the great sacrifice of Vietnam’svolunteer soldiers and people in protecting Laos’ revolution and leaders in thepast.

Amidst the complicateddevelopments in the region and the world, it is crucial for Vietnam and Laos toeducate theirpeople, especially young generations, on the special solidarity, fightingalliance and comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

On behalf of the Vietnamesecommunity in Laos, President of the Vietnamese Association in Laos NguyenDuyTrung thanked the Lao Front for National Construction as well as the Party,Government and people of Laos for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamesepeople to settle their lives in the country.

He also pledged that thecommunity will always unite with Lao people in developingLaos, while serving as a bridge to protect, preserve and promote the specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.-VNA
