Vientiane (VNA) - Laos and China have launchedtheir Visit Laos-China Year 2019 – a major campaign to boost tourismcooperation between the two countries throughout the year.

The Lao newspaper Vientiane Times quoted Lao tourismauthorities as saying that a number of activities took place at the NationalCulture Hall on January 25 to mark the launch of the year-long tourismpromotion, including cultural performances and an exhibition of Lao, Chinesetourism products, and screening of films on the two countries’ specialattractions.

According to the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture andTourism, more than 4.1 million visitors came to Laos in 2018, of whom over800,000 came from China, an annual increase of 26 percent.

This year, Laos expects to welcome more than 1 million Chinesevisitors.

According to the China Tourism Academy, Chinese people made140 million overseas trips last year, up 13.5 percent on year.-VNA
