The Lao Government is tightening management of foreigners working in the country, giving a three-month term for them to register with labour agencies, which will decide whether they can continue to work in the country or not.

According to Lao Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfares Baykham Khattiya, the registration of foreign workers will be implemented across the country.

However, she did not specify when the three-month term will begin.

The Deputy Minister said investors in projects in Laos will be permitted to stay in Laos for a longer time while hired workers will need confirmation from their employers in order to stay in the country.
